Recession Proof Business And Interior Decorating

If you make your living as an interior designer or decorator the current economy has got to be hurting your business. When the economy is slow, many people who might otherwise hire an interior designer or decorator are forced to move such a ‘non-essential’ service to the bottom of their priority list. If you haven’t felt the pinch yet, brace yourself as your business could take a drastic nose-dive during an economic recession. Nobody really needs interior design services, especially in have-not times.

There’s also the fact that so many of your days are spent on the business-side of design; negotiating with contractors, waiting for deliveries to arrive, billing, gathering quotes, and so on. This is all time that doesn’t directly generate revenue for your interior design or decorating business, and when client billings are already meager, this can really hurt your financial situation.

Maybe you’re one of the many trained interior decorators who have ended up working in retail for a 100% commission. If the economy gets worse and you’re working purely on commission, where does that leave you? Even in good times, if you work for 100% commission you might as well be your own boss and have the freedom to market yourself to new clients rather than being tied to any one store.

When I decided to take the reigns of my life back and do something that would allow me to profit from my creativity, I considered a career in interior design. I struggled with that option countless times across a 20 year period when I was unsatisfied in my work. I researched, and even interviewed, many interior design schools in my “former life” but for some reason I never took the step to enroll. I decided with my BA, MBA and a couple decades of experience in business, being in a classroom for two to four years with kids 20 years my junior was not something I wanted to do.

Using The Same Company For Improvement Exterior

When it comes to matters of exterior improvement such as windows, roofing and siding, most homeowners tend to find that they are unable to tackle such tasks themselves. Fortunately, lots of companies and contractors are available throughout the country to assist people with their outdoor home-related needs. The tricky thing, however, is how to find the perfect company for the job at hand. While some homeowners might simply choose the cheapest professional for any or all of their outdoor needs, others might wisely decide to focus more on quality of craftsmanship than dollars alone.

It’s common for a person to require new windows, roofing and siding all at the same time. If you’re a homeowner in need of some serious work on your exterior, rather than simply search for the least expensive contractor in your area, you might want to try a different approach – finding a company that offers all of the services you’re looking for.

In some cases, an individual might move into a “fixer-upper” with the intention of investing in an exterior overhaul. In other situations, a person might prefer to do all of his outdoor improvements around the same time in order to maximize his investment. After all, what’s the point of getting new siding to protect your home when your roof is leaking and falling apart? No matter what your particular situation might be, if you’re looking to add new windows, roofing and siding to your home, it’s a good idea to find a company that is able to perform all three tasks.

Afull-service business is more likely to be around for the long haul. Remember, outdoor home features like roofing and siding do tend to get damaged by weather and wear and tear over time (even in situations where the initial work was truly top-notch). By hiring a company that offers numerous exterior improvement services, you’ll be increasing your chances of having someone around to fix your problems if and when they do eventually come up.

Modern Ideas Interior Design

Interior design allows people to decorate their homes so it looks both inviting and relaxing. These modern interior design ideas should help you begin the process.

Interior decorating involves a diverse area of interests, including painting, carpeting, wallpaper, tiling, lighting fixtures, furniture, and art forms such as paintings or other miscellaneous ideas. The definition of modern interior design ideas is constantly evolving. There are new design styles coming out almost every day.

The fabrics you choose for your rooms play a major environmental part in keeping with your modern interior design ideas since natural elements such as wool, cotton, and silk are the more likely choices. In years past, when designers weren’t as concerned with saving the environment, many homeowners would choose synthetic fabrics such as polyester or nylon which added to our global waste predicament and did a lot of harm to the environment.

When plans are set down on paper for new buildings, one of the most important things that is considered is how the space will work for visitors. In a retail setting, this means creating a space that is comfortable for shoppers and which draws them deep into the store.

Floor – An Attractive Option For Professionals

When your days are packed with meetings, appointments, after-work exercise and catching up with friends, the last thing you want to fuss about at the end of a long day is your living quarters.

With time being such a valuable commodity, apartment living frees up your time to spend it how you really want.

Here are some reasons behind why more and more professionals are opting for the low maintenance lifestyle of apartment living.

1. Safety In Numbers

When you lead a busy schedule, the last thing you want to worry about is security back home. Choosing to live in an apartment, rather than a stand-alone house, offers the age-old adage of safety in numbers. Most apartments have security guards, which discourages opportunities for crime. With 24-hour emergency service and an on-site building manager, you can feel secure in knowing you are protected at all times.

Apartments are built with residents’ safety in mind. Fire safety plans, emergency stairwells and exits, smoke alarms in every apartment and fireproof concrete floors and walls minimize of a widespread apartment fire. As well, the building’s fire panels are monitored 24/7, and should the alarm be activated, the fire department will be there within minutes – giving you total peace of mind when it comes to your safety and security.
