For about 2 decades I’ve spent my days going from one homeowner appointment to another providing quotes on bathroom projects which involve repairing water damage from leaks or simpler less costly tile and grout restoration and re-caulking. The easiest project is always to simply re-caulk once you go to whichever form of wear for a grout. Frankly it is something it is possible to do yourself. More often than not We have suggested re-caulking only to find out “just clean and seal the grout”. After i here that I know I will be back for additional repairs. Water will seep to the smallest hole and carry on and cause rot until dried and repaired and sealed. In worst cases completely gutting and replacing. To hold caulk lines staying longer don’t utilize an abrasive cleaner on them. There are numerous non-abrasive cleaners in the marketplace that can do a great job. When the surface of a caulk line is scratched it is contaminated. After contamination it will start to break apart. At this point it’s a couple of time when you have components of caulk floating to waste. With caulk continuing to fall the drain, it is simply just a few time before water finds its way to places it shouldn’t be.
